The tournament will again rely on volunteers from the community to work concessions, run tables, and staff the hospitality room. “It takes a small army behind the scenes to run this tournament, we are very fortunate to have great community support that makes this tournament possible. It’s a lot of work, but it always comes together in the end” commented coach Chad Johnson.
Twenty eight teams will be competing in the tournament including: Mobridge-Pollock, Bennett County, Red Cloud, St. Thomas More, Lyman, Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes, Newell, Parkston, Little Wound, Potter County, Custer/Edgemont, Winner Area, Todd County, McLaughlin,Sunshine Bible Academy, Stanley County, Hill City,  Spearfish, Lead-Deadwood, Pine Ridge, O’Neil (Neb), Kingsbury County, Warner/Northwestern, Lower Brule, Belle Fourche, St. Francis, Hot Springs and McCook Central/Montrose.
The tournament will premier four teams currently rated in class B poles including #2 Winner Area, #3 Mobridge/Pollock, #9 McCook Central/Montrose,  and #15 Parkston.  Coach Johnson states, “It will as always, be an interesting team race, it will come down to which team can take advantage of individual bonus points (pins, tech falls, and major decisions), unseeded wrestlers stepping up in big matches and putting guys into the medal round.”
It will also potentially  feature many individual ranked wrestlers according to Dec. 18 rankings from “Dakota Grappler”.
