[b]Amateur basketball players, fans converge on Presho[/b]

Basketball players and fans from around the state will gather in Presho Saturday and Sunday for the 58th annual South Dakota Amateur Basketball Tournament. Local sponsors include the Presho Area Chamber and the Medicine Creek Lions Club.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults per session and $3 for students. The gym will be cleared between sessions.

[b]Juniors chosen for Boys', Girls' State[/b]

The American Legion Posts and Legion Auxiliaries in Lyman County have chosen six juniors as delegates to Boys and Girls State.
The Webster/Larson Post # 157 of Vivian has selected Ashley Uthe and Eric Halverson. The Presho Butrick Legion and Auxiliary Post # 89 have chosen Alicia Brakke and Jake Jessop. Nicholas Headley and Ashley Vernon have been chosen as delegates by the Johnson/Peterson Post # 179 of Kennebec and Reliance.

Boys State will take place from May 30 to June 4 at Aberdeen on the Northern State University campus. Girls State will be on the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion on the same date.

Funeral services for Hilda Pitan, 88 of Presho, who died Friday, February 25, 2005 at St. Marys TCU, Pierre will be held Wednesday, March 2 at 10 am at the Zion Lutheran Church, Presho. Burial will be at the Vivian Cemetery, Vivian, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Isburg Funeral Chapel in Presho. A prayer service will be held at 7 pm at the Chapel

Bertha Dybing 92 of Platte died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Platte Health Care Center, Platte, SD. A prayer service was held Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Platte Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rick Slattery. Graveside services were held Saturday February 26, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Presho City Cemetery, Presho, SD.

Joseph M. Sloan, 82A mass of Christian Burial for Joseph M. Sloan was held on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 11:00 am at Risen Christ Catholic Church with Father Rudolph Bullman as Celebrant. Committal followed in the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. A Vigil was held Thursday at 7 pm at Johnson Mortuary chapel with visitation Thursday from 1 pm to time of Vigil at the funeral home.
