[b]20X Beaver Bull Ride comes to Kennebec[/b]

The town of Kennebec will play host to the first 20X Beaver Bull Ride, a rip roaring, action packed bull riding adventure Friday, June 17th at 7:00 PM at the Kennebec Arena as part of the towns 100th Centennial Celebration. Two 20X Beaver cowboy hats will be given away at the conclusion of the bull ride; one hat to the top average winner and one to a lucky cowboy or cowgirl in the crowd.

[b]South Dakota Roadways were Fatality Free during Memorial Day Weekend[/b]

PIERRE, S.D. - The Department of Public Safety announced Friday, June 3rd that during last weekends Memorial Day holiday, no one was killed on South Dakotas roadways.

As you can see from this years statistics, we get positive results when everyone plays a part in reducing the number of traffic crashes, injuries and deaths on our South Dakota roadways, said Col. Dan Mosteller, Highway Patrol superintendent. If you choose to drink, do so responsibly and do not drive. Also, wear your seatbelts every time you ride in a vehicle, and call 911 if you see someone driving drunk.
Beginning midnight, Thursday, May 26, 2005, and ending midnight, Monday, May 30, 2005, the Highway Patrol reported the following statistics:
28 crashes 29 driving while ntoxicated (DWI) arrests 1 alcohol related crash 637 speed citations 196 safety belt contacts 23 child restraint contacts

During the Memorial Day weekend in 2004, all law enforcement, including the Highway Patrol, reported 143 traffic crashes resulting in 45 injuries and one fatality.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 8, 2005 for George Hollenback, who died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, SD, at the First Christian Church at Winner with Pastor Shawn Hunze, Officiating. Cary Long, Doug Halverson, Miles DeJong, Roger Shippy, Lou DeJong, Cody Hollenback, Levi Hollenback and Randy Blare will serve as pall bearers. Interment will be at the Winner Cemetery.
