Memorial Services were held Monday, June 7, 2004 a the United Methodist church in Presho for Melvin Ray Paige, who died May 30, 2004 at the VA hospital in Sioux Falls of cancer after a short illness.

Melvin was born December 4, 1939 to Gerald Paige and Alma (Hemenway) Paige. He graduated from Presho High School in 1958. He served in the Navy for four years and was a member of the American Legion.

Melvin was united in marriage to Margene Schweitzer on April 4 1964 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. They had three children, Joseph Paige, Sioux Falls; David Paige, Presho; and Judith Paige (Ken Cullison) of Sioux Falls.

They lived in Wapakoneta, Ohio for 10 years where he was employed by Scot Lad and Neon Products of Lima, Ohio. They moved back to Presho and owned and operated the Arrow Motel and Paiges Short Stop for many years. For the last 13 years Melvin worked at Willrodt Motors of Chamberlain as an auto detailer.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Margene of Presho; two sons, Joseph Paige of Sioux Falls and David Paige of Presho; one daughter, Judith Paige (Ken Cullison) of Sioux Falls; and five grandchildren. 3 brothers, Ken Paige (Mary Ann) of Edmonds, WA, Vernon Paige (Suzan) of Sioux Falls and Tom Paige (Cheryl) of Brookings; four sisters, Betty Raymond of Oshkosh, WI, Gloria Paige of Sioux Falls, Sharon Paige of Kathryn, ND and Patti (Gary) Goudy of Artesian, SD. Also, many nephew, nieces, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Myrtle (Paige) Juntunen, two brothers, Jerry and Larry, and brother in law Darrel Raymond.
