Main Street Project finishes before Thanksgiving

The last of the street closed barriers were removed from Presho’s Main Street last Wednesday morning, and after approximately six months of construction, residents were able to drive from the top of Main to the bottom without restrictions. The Main Street construction project that included new sanitary and storm sewer lines, sidewalks, street lights and pavement started last May, and had October 31 as the completion date, finished November 13. A few areas along the curb and gutter remain unfinished but the majority of the work is complete and traffic is back to normal. The new lighted crosswalk at the intersection of Main and 6th Street was part of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to provide a safe route to school grant and paid for new sidewalks along 6th Street, west of Main, and Birch Avenue north to the school.
