Funeral services for Frank Kreinbuhl of Iona, SD were held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Iona Methodist Church. Father Ray Deisch officiated. Burial was in the Iona Cemetery.

Frank Kreinbuhl was born on the family homestead near Iona, SD on October 1, 1916. He was the youngest of eight children in the family of Fred and Cora (Lillie) Kreinbuhl. He attended the Kreinbuhl School near his home through the eighth grade, then went one year of high school in Oacoma. He rode horseback from home along the river to Oacoma and stayed with relatives until the weekend when he rode back home. After one year of high school he stayed home on the ranch helping his family, working construction and doing small jobs for others in the area.

Frank married Dorothy Boxa on June 9, 1939. They made their home four miles north of Iona where they raised livestock and helped others along the way.

After retiring, you would see Frank in his bib overalls and engineers cap driving around the community, visiting, playing cards, checking the new calves, and raising a garden each year. He always looked forward to his friends from Alaska coming in the fall. He liked talking politics, caring for his cats and teasing kids.

In July of 2003 his health required entering Silver Threads Assisted Living where he made many new friends and did his best to adjust to all his setbacks. He entered Avera Rosebud Country Care in September of 2004 and passed away at the Gregory Hospital on November 25, 2004 at the age of 88 years.

Frank was the last surviving member of the Fred and Cora Kreinbuhl family being preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy "Dolly", five sisters: Nellie Kreinbuhl, Winifred Grey, Fannie Stulken, May Meinen, and Florence Trabling; infant brothers Perry and Raymond, brothers Cleo Marsh and Walter Kreinbuhl.

He is survived by his step-daughter Monica Qualm of Burke, SD; a nephew Leonard "Granny" Marsh and a niece Erlene (Dave) Berge, other nieces and nephews and great nephews Keith (Maria) Talsma and Tim (Cindy) Talsma other great nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law Alice Kreinbuhl. Other relatives include Dolly's family: Steve (Mildred) Boxa, Earl (Betty) Boxa, Lillian (Elmer) Trautman and Polly Cerney, other relatives and friends.

Flower Attendants were Carleen Baumgartner and Jennifer Talsma.
