Lewis B Ripley, 83
Lewis B Ripley, 83, died December 19, 2003, at his home in San Jacinto, CA.
He was born in St. Ansgar, Iowa on December 14, 1920. Lewis was the oldest of five sons born to Fred and Carrie Ripley, formally of Iona, SD. He attended grade school at Iona and graduated from Gregory High School with the class of 1939.
After high school, he worked for the CCC for a time at Mount Rushmore then settled in California where he entered the service in August 1942. He served with the US Army-Airforce until September 1945. He was a member of the VFW and a Amateur Radio Club of Southern California.
He owned Ripley's Auto Repair in Anaheim, CA for 8 years.
Lewis is survived by his wife Elaine of 61 years, two daughters, Linda Treat of Nevada and Karen Smith of Orange, CA; and a son Lewis II of Helmet, CA; three grandchildren, a great grandson, and a brother, Wilfred (Skeeter) of Arroyo Grand, CA. Graveside services were held on December 24, 2003 at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors. The Lewis family lived in Iona many years ago and Mr. Fred Ripley was the postmaster.
