Lois Johnson was born February 12, 1925, in Lyman County, SD, to Henry and Hannah (Cedarholm) Johnson. Following her graduation from Kennebec High School, Lois attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where she received her teaching degree. She then taught school in Clear Lake, SD. It was in Clear Lake that Lois met the love of her life, Mr. Fred Wiswall.

Fred and Lois were married June 7, 1947, at Clear Lake, SD. Lois became a homemaker and loving mother. They lived in Brookings until 1951, when they moved to Sioux Falls. As her children were young, she was involved in the PTA and Cub Scouts. Lois was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and for many years was involved in church circle. She was also a member of the BS Chapter of PEO, past member of the Community Playhouse, and various dance clubs and bridge groups.

Following Fred's retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling and particularly liked spending time at their lake home at Pickerel Lake. Lois was an avid reader, a talented seamstress, and also enjoyed baking and canning. A kind and gentle person, she remained personally interested in education. Fred passed away on October 30, 2001. Lois battled many life illnesses. While any of these afflictions could have weakened her faith, Lois continually remained steadfast to her Lord. Even in the midst of her suffering, her courageous and positive spirit shined as an inspiration to all that knew her.

Forever grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Herb (Sandy) Wiswall, Watertown, SD, Brian (Susie) Wiswall, Sioux Falls, SD, Scott (Laura) Wiswall, Aberdeen, SD; grandchildren, Jeff (Kristi) Wiswall, Steve Wiswall, Andy Wiswall, Becky Wiswall, Libby Wiswall and Addy Wiswall; sisters, Ann (Bernard) Moran, Lincoln, NE, and Shirley (Henry) Sather, Malcomb, IL.
