Louis Leichtnam, 88 of Presho died Monday, March 15 at Beverly Health Care in Rapid City Visitation was 4-6 pm Wednesday, March 17 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho with rosary at 6:00 pm at the Church. Services were 11:00 am Thursday, March 18 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial was at Holy Angel Cemetery in Presho.

Louis Leichtnam was born December 2, 1915 to John and Rose (Schneburger) Leichtnam at their homestead north of Presho.

Louis married Marjorie Satree on June 3, 1944. Louis and Marjorie had 11 children Pauline (Louise), Elaine, Leo, Phyllis, Teresa, Delores and Mark. Four children passed away in infancy. They also had 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Louis served in the US Army from 1942-1945. He returned to Presho, SD where he started a life long involvement in farming. He was the first curator for the Lyman County Historical Society Museum. He and Marjorie spent a great deal of time collecting antiques, attending auctions and artifact hunting.

Louie also was instrumental in the construction of the Senior Citizens building in Presho. Presho, farming was always his home and his love.

He is survived by two sons, Leo and his wife Debbie of Kennebec SD and Mark of Presho; four daughters Pauline (Louise) and her husband Don of Tucson AZ, Elaine and her husband Ken of Olympia WA, Phyllis of Sioux Falls SD and Teresa of Sun Lakes AZ; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, one brother Frank and his wife Bernice of Presho, one sister Marie Hellman of San Francisco CA and a dear friend Myrtle Mathison.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, three daughters, four brothers and two sisters
