Community celebration planned for Sunday
Donations to GLF continue to accumulate
The Greater Lyman Foundation continues to receive generous contributions, according to Chairman Herb C. Sundall. While the Foundation reached the first goal of $75,000 earlier this spring, the fund continues to increase value.
Sundall reminds the public of the thank you celebration planned for Sunday, April 26th from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at the Lyman Gardens gym in Presho. Ice cream and cake along with refreshments will be served. A representative from the South Dakota Community Foundation will attend to make a presentation to the GLF of a check for $25,000.
Recent donations to the Foundation include: $2,000 from an anonymous donor; $1,000 from BankWest of Kennebec & Vivian and BankWest Insurance of Presho; $1,000 from the Kennebec Women’s Study Club; $500 from Lucille Bower, Joyce Bowman, Norman Bower and Dale Bower (in memory of Lester Bower); $500 from Norman and Penny Bower; $500 from Winner Livestock Auction; other donations come from Hair West, Delmer Volmer, Richard & Don Schoessler, and John Christenson (in memory of Ruth Christenson), Helen & Joseph Hieb, Tom and Joyce Bowman (in memory of Lester Bower), Dr. L.L. Menning, Mr. and Mrs. Don Kistler (in memory of Ray and Lilly Kistler), Marjo Crain, and Larry and Dodie Anderson.
Other memorials received were for Marcia Boschee, Ruth Christenson, Doris Hills, Joe Kubik, Maynard Stickel, Leola Burull, Dennis Donovan, and Theron Johnson. The Foundation is currently at $93,327. In a story published in the Lyman County Herald January 21st issue the fund was at $44,231.
The GLF board of directors invite everyone to attend. Chairman Sundall encourages the community to come out and enjoy cake and help celebrate the accomplishment.
