Kennebec Celebrates Hometown Holiday
By Lucy Halverson/LCH
Christmas music filtered through the Kennebec gym as shoppers strolled through the booths Saturday at the Hometown Holiday Festival.
Organizer Sandy Mundlien of Sweet Scraps by Sandy, felt the event was successful.
According to Mundlien, there was a variety of items available to purchase, plenty of food from kuchen to popcorn balls plus a concession stand that offered homemade Indian Tacos by Kennebec resident Diane Kastner.
“We definitely plan to hold the event again next year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving,” said Mundlien.
The majority of vendors were local with others coming from the surrounding towns of Murdo, Hamill, Pierre and Pukwana.
Tina Freeman, the Silpada dealer from Pierre, raffled a necklace on behalf of the Maci Busack family. Holly Kierstead’s name was drawn as the winner and $167 donated to the Busack family from the impromptu benefit.
Organizers of the Hometown Holiday Festival included Mundlien, Kastner, Kellie Halvorson and Stacie Gran all of Kennebec.
