Nominating petitions now being filed 
 
   The Lyman School District voted earlier this year to hold their election in combination with the county’s Primary Election on June 5, 2018. 
   Nominating petitions for the school board and county official are now being circulated. The deadline to file is March 27, 2018.  
   Lyman School Board has three 3-year terms up for election this year. Positions open are currently held by Meta Halverson and Matt Collins, both from Kennebec and Rolly Cropsey, of Presho. All three will all seek re-election.  
   On the county level, three positions on the County Commission are up for election in 2018 and, also the position of Auditor, Register of Deeds, and Sheriff. These positions are all 4-year terms. 
   Nominating petitions for these offices are available at the county auditor’s office located in the courthouse at Kennebec. Commission seats currently held by Kim Halverson, (R) of Kennebec, Steve Perry (R) of Presho and Ryan Huffman (R), Vivian will expire this year. Halverson has indicated he will not seek re-election to the commission. Perry has filed a petition for re-election, but Huffman has not confirmed his decision as of Monday.  
   Lyman County Auditor Pam Michalek, plans to retire from office, and will not seek re-election. 
   Michalek started work at the auditor’s office in 1978, and was elected to serve as auditor in 2002. She will have served the county for 40 years upon the completion. 
   Halverson was elected in 2002 and has served four terms on the commission.  
   Register of Deeds Tracy Brakke and Lyman County Sheriff Steve Manger have both stated they are running for re-election. 
   On the state level, nominating petitions are also due March 27 at the Secretary of State’s office in Pierre for state offices including, State Representative, State Senate, and US Representative, and Governor of South Dakota. 
   Jim Schaefer current District 26B representative is term limited out this year and will not seek another term in the legislature. District 26A and 26B Senator Troy Heinert (D) of Mission is running for another term.
