The Reliance Area Community Development’s (RACD) 16th annual dinner theater closed Saturday evening, March 6 following three successful sold out performances.
Shane Reis, RACD vice president, stated that attendance was excellent all three nights. “Despite battling mud this last weekend, we sold out every night,” said Shane.
“I Don’t Have a Clue” a play by Craig Sodaro was directed by Lori Marsh. Twenty three club members were involved in the play including; Pam Reis, Gayle Mohr, Heidi Reis, Tessa Reis, Jessica McManus Hyde, David Reis, Leslie Reuer, Donnie McManus, Warren Karlen, Shane Reis, Karla Ellingson Jeff Tveit, Sarah Mentele, Jon Ellingson, JaNelle Choal, Steve Schelske, Bruce Eymer, Joyce Hoffer, Ronda Schelske, Danny Elwood, April Reis, Bo Hamiel, Brenda Reis and accompanist Kym Lebeda.
The dinner theater is one of RACD’s major fund raisers of the year. Last year the group purchased two riding lawn mowers for use at the cemetery. In addition, they used funds for the storage shed located on the north side of the Legion Hall, that holds tables, chairs and other items, plus donated funds to the Reliance School museum, the welcome sign and to several community members in need of financial assistance.
“We’ll discuss our plans for 2010 at our next meeting in April,” said Shane when asked what the club plans to do with funds raised at this year’s play. Shane stated that while the production is a lot of work, the group has fun and appreciates the support they receive from the community. “We thank everyone for coming,” said Shane.
RACD officers for 2010 in addition to Shane include Sherry Lulf, president; Tessa Reis, secretary; and Pam Reis, treasurer.
